Two angles of attack:

1. Is he a Christian? Does he believe in God? Is he currently attending a Bible-believing church? I sincerely believe that people who have lost their way with God are FAR more likely to be worriers. After all, this world CAN BE a pretty scary place. If you don't believe in God then ... it can seem as if it's all on you, that everything is spiraling out of control, etc. When my kids, 6 and 8, start to express worry, I ask them EVERY TIME: "Who's in control?" They always answer, "God!" Right answer! When you KNOW in your heart that this or that is bigger than you and that you can't stop it, that's pretty scary stuff. But when you understand that it isn't on you to stop it, that can be a big relief. God is in control. If you don't understand that then it's going to be hard for you to convince your boyfriend of this. But both of you need to understand it and be reminded of it on a daily basis. The Bible is chock full of stories of events that seemingly were spiraling out of control, only to have God bring everything together, to calm the savagry, etc. He is in control.

2. Psychotherapy, psychology, and pharmacology can offer some help for chronic worries. There IS a mental disorder element to this. It's NOT just a lack of faith!

So, I would advise you to pursue BOTH angles of attack, trying to get him into a good church, reading the Bible, praying, committing to an ALL POWERFUL God and maybe seeking some therapy, psychiatric counseling, etc.

Lord bless!

He needs help, he needs to see a doctor so he can learn to deal with his panic/worry disorder. It is interfering in the quality of his life and so hopefully he can get some help.

That's the way he is--unless HE chooses to get help. You can devote the rest of your life ministering to him and have no life of your own. Or you can bid him goodbye, and go develop your own life. Your choice.
