we are selfish. People are just selfish and they want the spotlight. Everyone wants to feel excepted and special. that's why we all need to turn to God. He gives us all the fame we really need her. Yeah, i don't get why people need to be excepted by selfish people. Doesn't make sense does it?

Narcissists and the generally insecure always require attention and validation. Fame provides this. Unfortunately, such types, and the even yet more unsavory psychopaths, are always searching for fame and power, because they are empty inside.
Normally they will do "whatever it takes" to get to the top. Just look at the current administration, and the obese trolls at the top of the corporate "food chains" : lie, cheat, steal, kill--nothing is "off the table" with them, is it? :))

When I think about how people see fame, I think of that line from Counting Crows "Mr. Jones" (I know, not real deep song or anything): "When I look at the television, I want to see me, staring right back at me."
When people imagine themselves being famous, I don't think they imagine it as it will actually be, but imagine seeing themselves from outside of themselves. Think about it; whenever you have thought of yourself as, say, a famous actor, do think about standing in front of a bunch of cameras with people crowding around you? You probably have an image of yourself in a movie, seeing yourself on screen. There is some perceived satisfaction when you can see yourself in the same place that you usually see other celebrities. It is a form of narcissism, which we all probably succumb to now and then.

I think celebrities are so far removed from one's own existence, they seem mythical and therefore fascinating.
I'm just glad that in my arts work, I've worked with a few celebrities. This has kept me from engaging in celebrity worship, because I've seen up close that people are just people. Trust me, famous people go to the bathroom and have to wipe, just like everyone else.
What I find utterly perplexing is why something like Paris Hilton going to jail for a few days is viewed as being a monumental moment in all of human history. I simply don't get it at all.

Because with fame comes the knowledge of others about your existence. You're *noticed* and sometimes even revered. Plus, you get a lot of money. You get to go to special events and you have websites for you and things like that.
I don't get it, personally. I'm happy as I am. =3

Insecurity. Whenever someone needs the attention or adoration of others, it usually is a person who feels unlovable or unlikable. Of course, no amount of fame will ever change that person's belief about themselves.
