I don't think it will have anything to do with their parenting skills, but I do believe it will contribute to their housekeeping skills. I was never made to do chores and I kind of resent my mother for that, because it was really hard (and still is) to get in the groove of always keeping things tidy, but I do not think it affects my skills as a parent. I married someone who is obsessed w/ cleanliness, and we always teach my 2 yr old to pick up after himself, so it worked out for me.

Here is what happens. When this child has children they will not make them work or do chores because they will feel bad because they know hot it feels. Then those children will be lazy and not do things for their selves. They will make their children do chores so they don't have to do it all by their selves. It's a vicious cycle.

Yes. Children that are given responsibilities as they grow up will be better people as a whole, including better parents. They will more than likely pass down the traits they learned as a child.

Of course it teaches responsibility and reward for hard work, and parents do need to be responsible. Also having a pet teaches nurturing and responsiblity. It teaches them to be responsible for cleaning up their own room. Also it takes joint effort on everyone's part in the family to make a household run smoothly. A little ching ching or a reward always helps to get them motivated since we are also motivated to work for pay. We were taught to pick up after ourselves for special treats and allowances. We also worked in our parent's family owned businesses when we were in junior high school and high school. This taught us a lot about how to run a business. We all went to college, and I later went into upper management and have also had my own business. My sister is a teacher, and my brother works for a chemical gas company.

I believe it will make them better adults which in turn may make good parents. They will understand the value of teamwork and following rules.

I just think they will learn responsibility in general....
parenting is a different ballgame.... that involves a lot of skills & instincts, not just responsibility

I think they certainly would understand that you have to work hard to make things come together and be the way you want them to be.
