I have stayed at Pop Century, and am going there again in Sept. I think it is the best of the value resorts (I have also stayed at All-Star Movies and A-S Sports.)
I like that by staying on property, you get so many advantages: transportation, Extra Magic Hours, etc.
Just because you are staying at a "value" resort, doesn't mean you have to STAY there. We only are there to sleep and shower, and use the pool. We often go "visit" the other resorts, such as Grand Floridian or Polynesian. You can eat at any resorts' restaurants, walk the grounds, etc. I wouldn't go so far as to use things such as the pools, but we always go and spend some time (and take photos) in the deluxe resorts, dining and shopping, or just lounging in the lobby.
Pop Century is a nice resort, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. The only "downside" that I find, is that the buses are VERY full in the morning and coming back at park close. As long as you keep in mind that the buses run continually, and if you don't make it on one, another will come along, you will be fine.
Enjoy your trip!!

I've never really heard any bad reviews. The bad I have heard was either a fluke or someone that was way too picky.
If you don't plan to spend much time in your room, the value resorts should do just fine. You get all the benefits of staying onsite, clean room, etc. but don't have to pay the higher prices.
If you plan to spend more time in the resort, want nicer options for food, want different transportation options, etc. Then the value resorts should be just fine.
I personally have only been to Pop Century to stay once, even though I always stay at deluxe resorts, I thought that it was really nice. Of the values, I think that Pop is the best. Since the person won't even tell you what was wrong it makes me wonder if they are telling the truth, maybe they are used to deluxe resorts, etc. It may also just be someone trying to upset you or cause problems, they may not even have gone to Disney, I don't know the situation, but just about everyone I know that has stayed there, reviews, message boards, etc. they are almost always really good.
I think you will be just fine!

If you have to stay at a value resort at Disney I would suggest staying at Pop Century since it is the newest but I will admit I am not a fan of the value resorts because for me, personally, I like the extra amenenties that come with moderate and deluxe resorts and am willing to pay extra.
If you are looking for a basic room for just sleeping than all stars and pop century are fine. If you want to stay somewhere that offers a restaurant, room service, concierge, etc than try one of the other disney resorts.

Just remember its a Value Resort. That means you cant expect anymore then just basic amenities and basic Disney quality standards which are very good of course. The Value Resorts are generally designed for budget-minded guests that will spend the most time at the parks and the least time at the resort. You can browse through the different resorts, include the Pop Century, at the official WDW website:

It depends on what you want from your hotel. If you are looking to save some money and a room to sleep and shower...then a value resort will do just fine. You will still have that Disney feel and service. If you want more from your stay with finer dining and bigger rooms then go for a moderate or deluxe hotel.
Otherwise I think you will be satisfied with your stay at the Pop Century resort. It really just depends on what you are looking for.
have fun!!

Plain and Simple if you are looking for a good value resort then; POP Century is a great choice and the newest of the value resorts. Do expect to wait in long bus lines but worth it because of the money you save. You really wont spend much time in your room anyway.

I consider the Pop Century to be the nicest of the Value resorts. I have stayed there twice and I have two more stays there already booked. I have never had a problem there, but I spend much of my time away from the hotel. The food court is good, I especially enjoy the Ham and Havarti flatbread. If you do have a problem, tell someone they will fix it and make sure you are hhappy.

I have made numerous trips to Disney and during the first few we stayed a mid priced hotels. I then decided to try the value hotels and I have been satisfied. Pop Century is the best of the value world. With this advise keep in mind we do not spend much time at our hotel at all, we usually pick a park to visit and arrive at opening and stay till it closes then go to the park with extra magic hours. If you plan to dine, and swim, and enjoy mixed drinks the value resorts may not suit your needs.

I personally hated it. For the extra $50 a night, I'd stay at a Moderate resort.
The rooms are quite small. It was just my husband and I, and we had a room with only one bed, but it was still cramped. The outsides of the buildings are not always kept as clean as they can be. The food court does get incredibly crowded and loud. The bus service is ridiculous.
These are my main reasons why I will not pay rack rate to stay at the Pop Century resort again. I do like certain things out of my vacations. While we do not spend alot of time in the room, I like to have room to store some of my things and to spread out our stuff. I also like to be able to hit the food court on the way to the parks, and the food court here always seems to be terribly busy. The bus service was the worst for me. In the mornings, going to certain parks, we would have to wait on a line in the sun for two buses to come before we could get on one. In the evenings, we had to wait for five buses to come through at times to get back to the resort.
I have only stayed at Deluxe resorts before this, but during the same times of year. At the Deluxe resorts, we never had a packed food court, nor a long wait for buses: we always got on the first bus that came that was going where we wanted to go.
If there are only going to be two adults in your room, and you don't mind waiting for buses, you'll enjoy it. You'll also enjoy all the money you're saving by staying at a Value resort. You can buy a bunch more souvenirs.
A note of caution, though: if you have booked the Disney Dining Plan, or would like to have any sit-down meals while at Disney, you can book a table 180 days (six months) in advance. I advise you to call well before you arrive in Central Florida; certain restaurants book solid 180 days out.
Check out www.allearsnet.com for more info on rooms, dining, and the parks, including pictures.
