A grown tiger, of any species ie Siberian, Bengal, etc., is larger and stronger than a Cougar aka Puma, Mountain Lion, Panther. This being so the Tiger has the upper hand, however both are cats, and the smaller Cougar is a little more nimble than the larger Tiger.

I think that the Tiger would win this battle, however, it would never happen in natural circumstances.

Tiger Vs Cougar

i think the cougar would have a better chance from the start because they are very quick, but tigers are big game hunters and cougars hunt squirrel and rabbits, so once the tiger undoubtably gets a hold on it, its over for the cougar.

Humans are stronger and better skilled than cougars, i saw a video of a human and a cougar in a tussel, human pinned its head to the ground. But tigers are so much stronger and there body is so muscular that the cougars bite wouldnt be able to penetrate a tiger that much. if a tiger could beat a human in any physical match up, it could easily take a cougar

Bengal Tiger and I don't think a Cougar would stick around to find out, They aren't that stupid unless they have young to look after. edited: The average weight of a mature male cougar is 150 to 160 lbs. all though there are exceptions. some "males" have been known to surpass the norm and reach up to 200 plus lbs. Trophy hunts have records with various "weights" that tell us there are exceptions. Even with this weight and size, they are no match for a tiger.

It would largely depend on how nourished the animal was and if it were in good health. Tigers are generally larger than cougars but I don't know if that would be an advantage.

mmm, thats a good question, but i think that maybe the cougar, because it has a better agility and his little body (compared to the tiger) would minimize any injury, besides, have you seen how muscles are marked on the bodies of cougars before they leap? theyre like the cat-shzenegger animals, lol

A more interesting match up is Yahoo Answers Zoological group vs. a user who asks a question that is not really about zoology but a "what if" query by someone who plays too many video games.
