I started playing the violin a year ago. My violin is not expensive it around $650. The one I'm planning on getting is $1650 which my mom will be paying. The thing is that if I give my old violin in I will get $550 off the payment. I don't know if I should beacuse it's the first violin I ever had, it might sound stupid but I'm kind of attached to it. So I want to know If I should really buy the new violin? I know someday I will buy another violin but should I try to save money and help my mom with the payment ? Should I give my violin away? The bad thing i s the I only have 1 week to decide this or the offer is off.

I got rid of my first piano, second piano. etc. The real thing is you must love the new one you are purchasing, so you never give a thought to the old one.

TAKE A FEW NICE PICTURES AND FRAME THEM AS A REMEMBRANCE.

I've been playing the violin for almost nine years. I've traded in about four violins. You MUST love the new violin. You will get attached to it after a while. Since you are moving up, your new violin will broaden your range of sound. It kind of depends on how good the violin is though. The one big question is do you want to stunt your ability to play and sound beautiful or do you want to expand project and feel?

i say trade it in. frame your old one, or do whatever you have to do, but this new violin is probably gonna be better for you musically. hey, you might get just as attached to your new one!
Take it from a violist entering her sixth year playing.
