Is that why the Blue Jays are struggling to hit home runs? The baseballs they hit seem to die before it reaches the wall.

Cold temperatures alone don't have a great effect on travel of a HR ball. The Jays won't play in any cold weather at home though, because the dome at Rogers Centre will close if it becomes even a little cool outside.

Rogers Centre itself has slightly favoured batters since the Jays started playing there in the late 80s. When the dome is closed batters seem to have a bit more of an advantage compared to when the dome is open. This is the case with most of the modern domed stadiums (ie, SAFECO, Miller Park, Minute Maid Field). The dimennsions at RC are pretty average too, with it's cookie cutter design. Maybe the higher than average outfield walls keep a few HR balls inside the park, but overall, it's mostly a nonfactor.

Hope that helps.

Well, they play in a domed stadium, so that would seem to hurt that theory.

Altitude is a big factor in home run hitting. The higher above sea level, the farther a ball will travel. Colorado is the obvious starting point for that discussion, but Atlanta also is higher above sea level than you might think.

What do you mean Blue Jays players are struggling to hit home runs? I know this is off topic, but still. They have a had a very successful year with power. Alex Rios - 18 home runs, Vernon Wells -13 home runs, Troy Glaus - 12 home runs, with injuries, AARON HILL - 10 home runs. Get my point?
