Friday morning I went to six flags and went on the batmanride, when I came off I realized I had been robbed. Someone stole my bag which contained my cell phone, camera wallet with id, social, credit cards, cash and a diamond ring. The park security refused to help0 me. They also had my car keys so I was stranded in jersey with no id cash or way to leave. They basically told me i was on my own. Now they have cameras but refused to check them. They said they called the police but they lied about that too. This happened in the am. I finally got the cops there around 7pm. They then told me that two more girls had been robbed on the same ride. Also by the time i got to a phone I found out they had run up my credit cards with many purchase of six flag tickets, i guess they were scalping them outside. I saw a man i recognized from the ride outside selling tickets for 25 a pop, i told security but they still refused to help. Now my question. Has this ever happened to any one else. Shouldnt security help you out when this does happen and what are the cameras for? Can I sue six flags?

Did it ooccur to you that the people running the ride are the ones who stole the bag? I would have went directly to a telephone and clled the police.

Jane, I am so sorry this has happened. I suggest that you write a letter to the general manager of that Six Flag location. I would also cc: the congressman for that state, the better business bureau and the local sheriff department.

I would go a step further and let the news in that area know too...this should help warn alot of people.

Good luck.

Good thing is that you will not be responsible for the charges to your credit card. Next time, only take spending cash and your car keys or should the lockers they have in the park.

While it sucks to have your personal belongings stolen from you, I see many things wrong with what you left in the storage cubbies on the ride.
1) Why would you carry your social security card with you?? You should never carry your SS card unless you need it for a new job. That is the easiest way for someone to steal your identity. You should keep that number secure at all times.
2) Why would you leave a bag containing your credit cards, and cash, AND ID, in a cubbie left unattended??
3) Who in the world leaves a diamond ring in their bag at amusement parks?

All these things you stated above, you were just asking for your stuff to be stolen. If you don't want to carry a purse with you at all times, it should be locked up in your car or in a locker, and your cash, credit cards, and ID should be on your person at all times.
Same thing goes with that diamond ring. If you didn't want to wear it, you shouldn't have brought it with you. That should've been left in your car or in the locker with your purse.
As for the camera and cell phone, those are replaceable. As much as it sucks, they're replaceable.

And the reason that security didn't help you out with anything, most amusement parks don't have actual police departments working for them, they're private security guards. Usually they have no official background training in security and law enforcement, and can't do much except keep the peace in the park. Also, every amusement park that I have ever been to, has a sign posted above the cubbies on every ride that states: "This park is not responsible for property left in bins unattended". The ride ops aren't responsible for watching your stuff. You opted to bring it, you chose to leave it. It's a risk you take.
As far as reporting your problem to the police, you should've been taken to the security office to handle that. Why it didn't happen, I don't know. Never believe that someone else has called the police, you should do it yourself.
You can try to write a letter to the park management about the way you were treated, but it probably won't get you very far.
About the only advice I can give you is chalk this one up as a lesson of what NOT to do next time you go to an amusement park.

I'm sorry that happened to you, but I'm pretty sure there are signs at every ride that state that Six Flags is not responcible for lost or stolen articles. Next time I would recommend renting a locker or leaving most of that stuff in the car or with a non-rider. Did you go to Guest Relations at all? I'm sure they could have done something to help you out.

i feel bad for you jane. you should really like call them or like write a letter and complain. wow i know right whats the point of the cameras if they don't even use it for security reasons. i guess those security people are just too lazy to help you i guess. but never give up!
