Louisiana Passes Near-Total Abortion Ban
Today Louisiana’s President of the Senate and Speaker of the House signed SB 33, approving a ban on abortion with an amendment to permit it only in order to save the woman’s life to avoid “permanent impairment.” There are no exceptions for cases of incest or rape. The ban is a trigger law, meaning it will only go into effect if Roe v. Wade is overturned.

All that remains to be done is for the Governor to sign the bill. In a recent interview, Gov. Kathleen Blanco said she’d sign it as is.

Kathleen Blanco is a Democrat.

Abortion is only a political issue for Dems trying to discredit candidates...and religious whack-jobs..

most people don't regard it at all...there are more important things

this case..will be contested..and will go to the Supreme
Court..and Roe Vs Wade will be overturned..and there will be a state by state law..instituted..

so red vs blue..will replace roe vs wade

Kudos to the Louisiana politicians. Future voters may have them to thank for their lives.

I wish it were true that Democrats were as pro-life as Republicans. Clearly at the national level, there are almost no pro-life Democrats. In very socially conservative states, the Democrat parties do typically take more socially conservative positions than does the national party. But the national party won't want to be associated with those state party positions. The Democrat National Committee and its candidates receive far too much money from "Planned Parenthood" types to oppose abortion.

Finally, while these Louisiana Democrats deserve praise, one need look no farther than Kansas to find a female Democrat who does not care about pro-life legislation. She was sent a bill which would have required all abortion clinics in the state to meet veterinary clinic standards--and she vetoed the bill. I don't know how anyone can justify holding veterinary clinics to higher standards than abortion clinics. But obviously Gov. Sebelius would rather have the support of wealthy abortion clinic owners than to try to protect women.

That's one of the nice things about stereotypes -- they don't have to be based in reality.

Sadly, as much as I'd like to bash on people who rely on stereotypes, this isn't a good counter-argument.

The law is a contingent upon changes in federal court decisions that make the state ban illegal. Thus, all the governor did was say that if the federal law changes to allow something, then it's ok to allow it. Not very strong as far as stereotypes go.

I'm impressed with the Democrats. For the wrong reason. Since the Democrats get their power by creating poverty, the more poor people they create, the more power they have. Since most aborted babies come from single mothers and most singla parent households are much poorer than 2 paernt households. It would seem like a pretty good power grab.

Stereotyping is just a conniving way of making the other party look bad.
