ok, so i keep getting pop-ups about my computer being infected or something like that. So i ran a full system can with McAfee and there seems to be nothing detected and its saying its fine. Yet i still get pop ups and a different background. the background looks to be an advertisment saying i'm at risk and i need to click here...blah blah blah. So i don't know what to do... One of the pop ups says something like "Trojen.W32.Looksky detected on your machine." then says to click yes to remove but it just takes me to a website and i'd have to download and pay for the spyware program. So please help me

Rogue applications give these fake alerts to trick you into buying their programs. Download rogue remover its free.

Sounds like a scam to get you to buy a particular program. More than likely you aren't infected with a Trojan. You ARE infected with spyware/adware. In addition to Spybot Search and Destroy you should also download and install Spyware Blaster which will help prevent some of this crap from being installed in the first place. Another excellent anti-spyware program is Ad-Aware. All are free. Keep them updated and regularly run Spybot and/or Ad-Aware scans. I run all three on my computer and there haven't been any conflicts among them.

Oh Sweetie,

You have a virus. Did you click on one of those free ringtone sites? I think that's how I got mine.

Don't click on any pop ups, since that will make your problem worse.

Update your McAfee and then do a deep scan.

If one of the pop ups is WinAntiVirus2006, then you have a Vundo virus. It's nasty.

No, sounds like a scam. If you have McAfee installed and the virus definitions up to date, then you should be fine. Next time that window pops up, click on the X in the upper right hand window to close it. Hope this helps.

These are ads (pop-ups) by companies and spammers who are trying to get you to either buy their product or are trying to get you to download a virus or something from them. Get a pop-up blocker, or set the one you have to a higher level.

theres just adverts popping up in your browser. It doesnt mean youre infected

If mcAffee says youre ok, just ignore them. Id get a popup blocker which helps

best bit of advice I can give is to use FireFox (getfirefox.com) instead of crappy Internet Explorer. Itll stop all these adverts and is more secure than IE anyway

Sounds like you need a pop up blocker as well.

Just download spybot search & destroy its free and it works. Find it at www.download.com. also try AVG antivirus as well, its free and from the same site. Goodluck

i wouldnt worry it sounds fake :\ that normally happens when you get spyware on your pc it makes pop ups come up telling you that your pc is infected in order to pressure you in to buying dodgey av software...if mcafee is up to date and has found nothing then you have nothing to worry about ^_^
