What happened? The Republicans have started an illegal war, and the Dems that were elected to clean it up haven't made much of an effort to fix the problem. I think we are in real trouble. Neither side has done anything good. To make things worse, the so called front runners all seem to be like minded.

"The Congress lawfully enacted an Authorization for the Use of Military Force, which authorized the use of troops." This is not lawful. It is not authorized by the constitution, therefore it is illegal.

Correction, I am not liberal at all. I am completely anti-liberal, and anti-neocon.

I'm a Constitutionalist. If it's not authorized by the Constitution, I don't believe the federal government should have the right to do it. As far as war, if you are going to war, declare war send a ton of troops win the war and get out. We should not take part in nation building or get involved in entangling alliances.

Despite the rhetoric and catch phrases of "democracy", we live in a constitional republic that is governed through representation. However, it has been a really long time since the people were represented. The US government has become what it was never supposed to be---a cross between a plutocracy and oligarchy. Republicans and Democrats, with some exceptions, tend to be more concerned with maintaining power and prestige than serving the public good. It's not a new story and the argument was made by the anti-federalists in 1787. The only thing I can think is a quote from Jack Nicholson as Joker in the first Batman....."this town needs an enima."

Actually, the Republicans did not start an illegal war.

First, there was no legal declaration of war. By anyone. Second, the Congress lawfully enacted an Authorization for the Use of Military Force, which authorized the use of troops. We may not like it, but it was legal.

The Democrats have had five months to stop an occupation that's been going on for over four years. And in those 5 months, they've tried 4 times. For any Congress, that's moving fast.

I agree we should just get on and win the war but the Constitution wasn't built for now. It has to change as it has. Congress lawfully enacted a bill to the Constitution saying that they have the power to send troops to a combat zone without declaring war. How is that not constitutional.

You obviously are a liberal -- or at least brainwashed by a liberal press. Flatly asserting Iraq is an "illegal" war is a judgment call and buying in liberal propaganda. The war was authorized overwhelmingly by congress (not just republicans) so from a US government perspective it was not, and is not now, illegal -- nor did the Republican's start the war. Even if congress reverses course and withdraws its support for the war that does not make it illegal.

I do not like being in Iraq and I do not want any more US servicemen to die or get hurt. And I do not necessarily agree with the Presidents original rational for going to war in Iraq..
However, until Iraq stabilizes I do not think that the US should withdraw its forces. We went in and removed one mess (Saddam's government) but in the process created another one.. we cannot leave until something is done to clean it up..

I believe that the US has responsibilities.. I am afraid that too many people in the US want to get by by shirking responsibility.. whether it is the US government or individuals..

The Dems voted for that war too. They know they were right but they have a base they are pandering to that does not understand and are falling for the "we didn't know" "we didn't read it" "if I knew then" blah blah blah. I don't see Iraq as a problem expect with the media and the liberals embolden the terrorist that get our soldiers killed. I'm not that concerned about Iraq. this president said he saw the military there until about 2009 or 2010 and that is just around the corner, so nothing has changed and nothing is going to change. We need to be focused on border security and the Dem's front runners are all for Amnesty, so there is a problem on that side. The front runners on the Republican side are against Amnesty.
