I cry over children and people with developmental delays, disabilities, and diseases. I cry when someone or something dies in a book, a cartoon or on TV. I'm supposed to read Charlotte's Web again for my Children's Lit course, and I haven't been able to pick up the book, b/c I know I will cry if I read about Charlotte's death again (as a 19 yr old adult).
I cry over almost anything sad to do with other people, and I don't know why, but I just feel like I know their pain. I want to hold them, and love them, and make them better.
Am I overly emotional? If so, is there a way to change myself?

People like you are incredibly important to the future of our civilzation. If that sounds grandiose, think about it. If there was no-one in the world (and there are few enough already) who had the gift to identify with someone else's situation enough to want to help - we would eventually cease to exist.
The intensity of your empathy will lessen and become more discerning with time, but thankfully I think you will always retain your extraordinary talent. You will make a difference in people's lives.
It's not a bad thing. Embrace it, learn to control and direct it.
Make a difference.

You're very sensitive, which is a good thing. I'm very sensitive as well, probably what most people would consider overly sensitive. But I'm an artist and it actually helps me in my profession - it's almost essential. You can use your sensitivity and passion to do great things for others. Be it on a small scale with your family and friends, or on a large scale where you influence communities or more.
Make sure you do plenty of fun activities as well. Get out in the sunshine, play a little. Go out with friends and enjoy the moments. Goof off! Then you won't feel like crying so much.
Remember your curse can be a blessing if you channel your energies in the right direction. =<)

You have a rare quality seldom found in people nowadays and it is to be admired. Forget the insane thoughts!!! You are able to relate to others feelings, put yourself in the moment and/or respond to the situation.
Successful "movie and book" writers are after your type of reaction and it means they presented their objective well.
Please don't try to turn off your feelings toward others as it would leave you just as another "hollow human with an empty shell".
There are already TOO many of those available.

To feel pain, you must have experienced pain. Empathy is when you know what it feels like to hurt. Your oversensitivity comes from somewhere inside of you.
When I was little. I used to cry foe kids overseas that were hungry because I knew what hunger felt like. I still care and try to help, but my overwhelming feelings are much more subdued after I saw someone. Give it a try, it's hard to feel sad so much.
All the best!!

It sounds to me like you have the gift of empathy. This is a very admirable quality that is greatly lacking in our society. Perhaps you could better deal with your emotions if you volunteered with special needs' groups. Good luck to you.

Not insane in the least.
Definitely emotional and TOO sensitive to things that you have very little control over. If it's something that bothers you or actually hinders you in your daily life then talk to someone or see a psychiatrist about SSRI's /anti-depressants.

i've got continuously been overly emotional- my family contributors is unquestionably be responsive to for our "great comfortable" thoughts. With each and each new child it gets worse! final evening on my own- I study a cutesy e book to my 3 year old. It had quite lovable illustrations of kittens, and toddler polar bears and pandas. I cried. My husband stated putting a muzzle on certainly one of our dogs as quickly as we walk him (no longer by fact he desires one, yet by fact impolite human beings go the line to keep away from our dogs (they're super) and he concept it grew to become right into a solid theory for some reason) and the mere seen it made me cry hysterically. My dad instructed me my 6 year old feels like me, and that i cried by fact i grew to become into soo chuffed to hearken to it. I have been given a text cloth message from my sister (in regulation), according to me being disillusioned at a character leaving a television tutor of all issues, asserting "she would be able to be high-quality. she would be able to bypass on a visit international, and meet the suited guy and stay fortunately ever after xx". I blew up and cried for extra or less an hour by fact i presumed she grew to become into being advise to me. as quickly as I re-study it this morning, i grew to become into mortified. I probably would not have admitted that. human beings are probably thinking how I escaped from Bellevue now. i desire I made somebody sense quite solid approximately themselves!
