My door had to be replaced (it would not close properly and lock), anyway, the (old) screen door would not fit the new door so the screen door was taken away.......I asked for a new screen door for my new door.....I miss opening my door and letting the breeze in through the screen door, especially because of how hot it has been.....doesn't the land lord have to provide me with a new screen door....one that fits the new door?

Please Note That I Originally Rented This Apartment WITH A Screen Door. I Did Not Expect That I Would Loose It After Moving In. How Can This Be Fair?

If it didn't fit properly and wouldn't shut right, and wasn't any fault of urs, than yes they have to replace it.
If it was your fault, than they will charge you for replacing it.

No. he does not. I am eliminating screen doors on my rental units simply because they are a pain in the backside. Kids putting their feet and fists throught the screens, etc.

As long as you have a secure entry unit, that is the extent of the landlord's responsibility.

I have no idea where the other posters get the notion that it must be replaced. I'd like to see a statute to that effect.

Definately not. The screen door was an extra, not a necessary part of the apartment. If one of my tenants asks for something extra, like a screen door, I offer to put it in if they are willing to buy it (in this case, the screen door.)

I'm sure the owner of the building would like thing to be uniform in appearance, which would mean a screen door like the rest of the units. The landlord should take care of it.
