She contends that the initial cost of UHC will be $120 Billion. Iraq has already cost 3 to 4 times that much and Bush used taxcuts to (I suppose) increase Federal Revenue. Should Hillary do the same... even if UHC ends up costing more?

Comrade - I say Iraq is a joke - we could have paid for UHC and secured our borders easily with what Iraq has cost us.

So far, I see that not ONE Republican advocates Hillary using Bush's strategy for a huge government expenditure... makes you wonder how much Repubs really believe in tax cuts.

Well, there is an old saying - "there is no free lunch". Nothing is free, someone has to pay - unless, of course, we simply go farther into national debt, devalue our dollar even more, sell out to China, you pick. Then we'll pay in different ways...

No matter how much **** for brains Bush has wasted in Iraq it's a far cry from how much it will really cost. The $$$ is borrowed from the "Federal" Reserve and the interest alone is gonna balloon the figure big time.
Oh that's right, you numbskulls didn't think about that. Your man is flushing your $$$ down the toilet and you're all worked up about something that hasn't even happened.
UHC will at least help some Americans....the only help Bush has given is to his already rich pals. Just because we don't talk much about it anymore, doesn't mean they aren't raking in the dough day after day after day.
You people have a lot of nerve to talk the way you do about the future when you don't own up to the present.

It's hard to know where to start in dissecting your answer. As a general rule, cutting taxes to raise revenue is like selling things below cost because you'll make up for it in volume.
Having said that, if the money that has been funnelled into an unnecessary and illegal war against Iraq had been put into a Universal Health Care plan, taxes might indeed have gone.
As for tax cuts, people are strange: everybody wants services, but nobody wants to pay for them. This problem is worse in America than anywhere else--the rest of the world realizes that there are things worth paying for (like a healthy citizenry) and live with that fact, with the occasional grumble.

Tax cuts may be the only way we can pay for such stupid spending. Here's how tax cuts work. If I have an extra dollar (read tax cut) I take it and spend it for a loaf of bread. The grocer has the dollar and it's gross income. The Grocer gives it to his stock clerk who reports it as gross income. He spends it to buy a Sunday Newspaper. The Newspaper sees it as gross income and gives it to a reporter who reports it as gross income. At each level the same dollar is taxed. ..... As a rule of thumb. For every dollar increase in the money supply (read tax cut) there is a 6 dollar increase on the gross domestic product. With an average tax rate of 19% the equasion looks like this ( 6 x .19 = 1.14 ) For every dolar they decrease tax rates, there is a 1.14 gain in federal revenue. Some people call this effect - "Stimulating the economy" but most people have no clue what that means.

The initial cost is that much? That is $400 per every man woman and child just to start is up? What needs to be started? We already have hospitals and all the infrastructure. What are the operating costs after that? Take the yearly costs of this program and estimate high because the government will always cost more and divide that by how much insurance would cost you now. Don't be fools, see this for what it is.

She won't have to consider taxes. She'll decide that she no longer has need to be re-elected and will declare a national emergency, dissolve Congress, and then nationalize all private industry and property. The Stars and Stripes will be replaced with the Hammer and Sickle. And we'll all live in Utopia for all eternity, comrades.

The Iraq situation is on borrowed money that eventually we'll be forced to pay back.
Shall we run Universal Health Care in the same way? Your question and your suggestions. :)

No you couldn't and Hillary will raise taxes which will in turn reduce receipts to the Us government. Libs just can't for the life of them understand how cutting taxes increases revenues.

Hillary and Bill love and cater to the lobbyists, therefore there will never be Universal healthcare. That Lobby money will mean more to them than any so called promise.
