one of my friends, has a REALLY heavy period, and even has to change a overnight pad ever hour and a half, so she went and bought the depends, or the disposable underwhear for older people, and wears them on her period. she really likes it, she says she only has to change it about every 6 or so hours, and they last her all night. she doesnt have to worry about leaks too, and she says it makes doing to the gym and chafing and bending and doing exercises alot better. she just carrys them around in her purse. she put a pair of underwhere on top so it feels more normal. plus she buys a size to small so they fit snug,so it doesnt give a diaper/saggy butt effect. and you honestly cant tell. i think its weird, but kinda of a good idea. i was wondering if anyone else knew anyone who does this or has heard about it? just wondering

No, but if it works for her, so be it. It's her comfort level that's important though she really needs to consider wearing them less than six hours if possible because they don't breathe quite as well as pads since they are basically plastic panties with an absorbent lining.

If your friend routinely has a period that is this heavy, she should see a gynocologist. This isn't normal if it continues. She may need a medication to heal an infection or a D/C to clean out her uterus. It might be a sign of tumors, either fibroid or more serious. My daughter used the disposable unerwear after her baby was born until the flow slowed down.

I read in a newspaper article a few weeks ago about a girl who used Depends for her heavy periods. I know it's not much info, but I remember it saying that it helped her a lot to get around and not change as frequently.

A woman at my work has VERY heavy ones and wears maternity pads all the time. But they are thick and you need towear loose clothing over them. Not nice.

I think that if wearing Depends works for you and doesn't cause any embarrassment, then ALL GOOD! Excellent idea.

well to tell you the truth i was thinking of doing the same thing at night, because that is when my is the worst. Its a good idea. If your friend is lossing that much on her period, she may want to see a doctor, beacause there could be something wrong.

hey you know what .. heavy periods are a real problem and inconvenience for lots of women .. kudos to her for being resourceful ... but 6 hrs or so is too long to keep it on for cleanliness reasons . maybe just my preference (except at night when she can sleep) ..
