I would like to know who can do this too someone who really needs help? These are circumstances: Not legally married to this person and has a child with this person. Scared to do anything because her ex husband committed suicide recently (was divorced for over 15 years). He had been Baker Acted 2 times by sisters and Mother.

But this person has been getting real verbally abusive and somewhat physically pushing and breaking things etc., Mostly threatening suicide. What family members could do this? Do not want them to lose job or go to jail etc. How can you help them?

You left out what state you are in. I'm assuming you are in Florida since you referred to it as the Baker Act (however many states have laws on involuntary medical evaluation regarding one's mental health).

1. A Court can enter an ex parte order for someone to appear for medical examination.

2. A Law Enforcement officer can take someone appearing to meet the criteria to a mental health facility for involuntary examination.

3. A physician, clinical psychologist, psychiatric nurse, mental health counselor, or clinical social worker may execute a certificate stating that he or she has examined a person within the preceding 48 hours and finds that the person appears to meet the criteria for involuntary examination and stating the observations upon which that conclusion is based.

If in florida call the Dept. of Children and Families and talk to a counselor. The counselor can interview the person and can file for an involuntary mental health exam .
