If I dedicate a song to someone, it is because of the lyrics. The lyrics should have something that you want to say to the person that you are dedicating the song to.

usually the lyrics. cuz it tells the person who you dedicate it to what your feeling, and sometimes when your missing that person or you cant be with them, all you have to do is put that song on and it reminds you of them. so you dont really want it to be a song that has no feeling in it or meaning behind it, you want it to be a song that you are proud to have dedicated to you or to someone you love. know what i mean.

For me it is both. mainly the lyrics, but if I like the lyrics then I like the song. I just find one that is fitting to that relationship.

Usually the lyrics, because well the music doesn't express as much unless it's a really powerfull instrumental like Webber or Mozart, but we know that doesn't come around anymore.
