I took it to Auto Zone for a diagnostic test and was told that the temperture of my transmission fluid was low. Has anyone ever heard of this? If so any way to fix it?

The transmission is designed to work within a specific temperature range. Too hot or cold and the viscosity of the fluid will be too thick or too thin. This will affect shift characteristics and clutch engagement (yes auto transmissions have clutches inside) as the fluid moves pistons and goes through valves to engage different gears. Has the vehicle been modified with an auxilliary transmission cooler? Is it driven in sub zero temperatures regularly? It is possible that the temperature sensor is faulty, but don't bet on it without being certain. Automatic transmissions are expensive to repair or replace. I hope this gives you a direction to start troubleshooting. I doubt anyone else will be able to solve your problem without more info.

the check engine sensor light is to tell you that the computer has detected a problem somewhere in the car. then, you have the codes read to tell you what is wrong. the tranny temp sensor could be either bad, or there is a tranny problem. BUT, don't trust auto zone cuz they are sometimes wrong. Have the dealership check the codes to be safe. Don't delay cuz it could be a simple fix now, but a major one if you wait. On my 97 Chevy Tahoe, the sensor was bad and had to be replaced in the tranny.

wait, the scanner gives a code. Did you punch your year, make, model, and code into a search engine? Is that where you learned the trans temp was too low?

Nope. Sorry. But my Check Engine is always on, but there's nothing wrong. Maybe they're just trying to get money outta ya.
