Because warmth + moisture = growth and where there is a lot of growth of flora, there is a lot of food for fauna....and where there is a lot of fauna, there are a lot of carnivores.

Your next question might be, "Did you ever notice that both flora and fauna increase in toxicity/venomnousness the closer to the equator that they are found?"

[the answer would be that the greater the density of competing species in any given Eco-sphere, the more extreme and deadly will be the methods of offense and defense that each species will evolve in order to survive]

You already answered yourself. Because it is warm and humid all year long. Not warm and dry like many deserts. Not with a winter the requires adapting. Just warm and humid.
