It depends on who I am presenting this description to. Your audience needs to known in order to be able to use wording that appeals to them and will persuade them to think in your favour.

I would write, My living room is a place I come to to relax and unwind. I have all the things I enjoy in here from the TV, to stereo, DVD player, ect. There is a sofa that looks like________but I enjoy my lazy chair the most.

LOL I don't know if this is any good, but it worth a shot. You know more about your living room. I would include events that took place in my living room and the fun I had. EX Christmas party, party with friends, ect.

if you like writing, it might be fun, otherwise it might just seem like a homework assignement. Start out saying how you feel when you first walk in, like relaxed, warm, comforted, anything you can think of! Then start describing what aspects of the room make you feel that way.
