Actually, the best way to learn to be an importer/exporter is to work in the business for someone else for awhile. FInd an importer/exporter in your area and get a job working in the office. You'll learn more in four months than you will by reading 100 books or taking 4-years of college.

One problem with a lot of books is they show it to be so easy. It can be. You can also work by yourself and get started on a small amount of money $5,000-10,000 or so, but not $200-1,000 like some say. But it also takes a lot of work. Half your job is selling people on doing business with you and the other half is dealing with a wide range of bankers, freight forwarders, insurance agents and customs officials who are determined to make your life difficult.

You want to learn and that is good. Many want to start before they really understand the intricacies ofr the business.

Your other question said you knew the business but didn't have money. So you don't know anything and don't have money, not a good way to start. Get a job at an import exporter and save your money until you have enough to get started.

If it was me, I would want to pay a company already doing it consulting fee's, and let the owner let you work in every function of the company so you know what its all about. Then find money through venture capitalist, or take loans out at the SBA.
