Yes, in 'Hubris' Cheney makes up the story that his wife sent Wilson to Niger either for a nice vacation or to discredit the president. Cheney's office of information interviews some guy who was there after Plame says anything, then leaves thinking she started it all. The other people in the room all know that this story is not true, and that Wilson was asked to go to Niger from the normal chain of command.
It is simple misinformation.

Well, you can see by their answers that they have no clue, because their manipulators have totally kept them in the dark.
Her husband had the nerve to go to the source and find out the TRUTH about claims the Bush administration was making about Iraq's nuclear ambitions, claims that EVERYONE involved (except Dick Cheney) now admit were wrong.
But for daring to tell the TRUTH about one of the cornerstones of the argument to invade, it was decided by Cheney, Rove and Libby that he had to be punished. So her CIA status was leaked to friendly journalists, an act which while it probably didn't threaten her life while she was stateside, threatened the lives of contacts in other countries who had dealt with her, thus destroying important sources of intelligence in the actual war on terror.
Her speciality right before the outing was the nuclear capabilities and ambitions of Iran.
Revaling the identity of a covert agent *which she WAS, despite the repetitive BS of right wing radio, is the equivelent of revealing troop positions to the enemy to punish a family member of one of the soldiers. And let's repeat: the punishment was for telling the TRUTH.

They attack her because they don't want to face the painful reality that Bush and his administration are a bunch of criminals!!
Some hard righties seem to believe that total loyalty is expected even if you know a crime has been committed!!
They are the kind of people who hide sexual abuse in a family because of the reflection it casts!!

I think it has less to do with her and more to do with the animosity toward her husband.

She and her husband dared to speak the truth during a time of war - making them traitorous liberals and undeserving of their citizenship. Ship em to gitmo - they need to hang with their pals.

I didn't know she had? The outrage was at the conviction of Libby in an investigation in which no crime was committed until the investigation. Can you say witch hunt?
