Your best bet is to find one of those Summer coupons for an A/C check up and then make a decision from there whether it is worth fixing. In your case it sounds like you might get by with some freon but typical cars (only Cadillac automatically disconnects the compressor clutch when the freon is too low) will have the compressor lock up if the freon is too low. IF you know that your clutch is engaging when you turn on the A/C then you might check your owners manual to see if you have a cabin filter that might need changed and then try putting a thermometer inside one of the ducts to get an idea how cold the air is getting. All newer cars have such a pronounced slope on the windshield foir aerodynamics that this exposes the interior to direct sunlight and no matter how good the A/C is, you can't out perform Mother Nature at high noon. There should be condensation dripping under the car when the A/C has been running a few minutes, too.

It is not uncommon to pay $500-1,200 to put a defective A/C problem right again.

I wouldn't encourage anyone to play with the freon levels without a proper set of pressure gauges. If you hook up the hose to the wrong side (high side) of the compressor the freon can will blow up in your hand. Also, too much freon in the system is as bad as too little. The actual weight is in pounds (typical is like 1.5-3 pounds) not "PSI" is how you measure the correct amount of freon in a system and they are all different.

Good Luck!

Direct answer, it may desire to be a bubble on your A/C equipment that may not enable the Freon to bypass via until the better velocity is attain to rigidity it via. although, while sitting nonetheless in site visitors it has to paintings harder using low/no velocity. in basic terms open domicile windows or turn fan on severe. you will additionally get extra effective gasoline mileage. you besides mght could desire to be low on A/C Freon which shouldn't fee a lot. it form of feels that your compressor is working. that's what may be a substantial fee. As for the holiday, if it works on the line and additionally you're specifically vacationing on the line, so whats the difference? it particularly is extra effective to apply A/C at above 40mph besides. To secure extra gasoline (you ought to pay interest) yet get interior the habit of turning A/C off while commencing until you attain 30+mph. take excitement on your toddlers trip and be secure.
