They see television ruining their children, and they ignore it.They see violence and losing used as entertainment and deny the contradiction. They observe that tobacco harms the body, and pretend it does not. They see a father who is drunken and abusive, and the whole family denies it,letting no one say a word about it.
They observe that over thousands of years their religions have failed utterly to change mass behaviors, and deny this, too. They see clearly that their governments do more to oppress than to assist, and they ignore it.
They see a health-care system that is really a disease-care system, spending one-tenth of its resources on preventing disease, and nine-tenths on managing it,and deny that profit motive is what stops any real progress on educating people in how to act and eat and live in a way which promotes good health.

I see your point blubird, even if you have free choice, the fact of the matter is that you choose to deny yourself, that means you are not comfortable with your own truth about yourself in relationship to what ever you disagree with. It is still denial. Therefore, how could you learn if you deny yourself? I could you decide the best choice for the whole, when you deny yourself, your truth. If you make a mistake how whould you learn if you deny it.

Is it denial or free choice?
We as humans have our own very small self contained environment, within which we function.
We are aware of the warnings, graft and corruption.
But how does one fight the mafia in the area of crime?
When we hear of precautions with food we may change our food intake.
I do not believe Christianity has failed, many around the world are touched and believe. Here in the US, we have clout in elections, but we are a quiet group.
With regard to illnesses, there are cures, and research looking for cures. There has to be management, yes, there is profit, in private settings it is allowed by law.
After care is very important and generally the last venue to receive funds. Without it, a nation will have a large population of elderly that are chronically ill. Ex Canada's, failed national health program.
A country can educate until it is blue in the face, but we have freedom of choice to accept or reject.

I can't help but agree with you. All cultures seem to be brutal in some way. Religions have made it worse. Read the Bible about God ordering murder & worse. There was a line in the movie "The Big Chill" about denial. The actor said that no one can go through an entire day without denial. The older I get, the more I believe that's true.

People will continue to take the easy way out. TV occupies their kids so they don't have to. Tobacco and other vices are a habit.
People are often lazy, which in turn looks like delusion.

Disagree in some cases. People see and know exactly what is going on, unless they are moronic. You cannot deny anything. There is a quote that says, "accept things you cannot change." Sometimes, thats all you CAN do. No one and nothing is perfection or divine.....

yeah -- I think most of us are in denial -- including myself -- but you know what?? I could drop dead tomorrow -- so I don't really give a damn -- and I just want to work hard and love my husband and family while I am here. . .
