I need to know how Verizons internet works. I have a laptop and it has a wireless card in it already, but would I need to use Verizons card instead? And can I access the internet at home via the Verizon service?

Verizon will not define how its network works, it is not public info.

However, Verizon cellular internet service requires its own network card to work. It does not work with an 802.11 a/b/g wireless card as this is a totally different signal. You must have their card to work.

It will work wherever they have service which may be at your home depending upon where you live and where the Verizon tower is.

Verizon (and its competitors) do not permit routers, Internet Connection Sharing , etc so you need one card per device and need to pay for each.
