Yes. In my older Infiniti it makes that damn grinding sound.
but in my newer Buick it doesn't so it's less embarassing

If your car chokes down after you turn it on the first time it means either it is not getting enough fuel (something wrong with carborator or fuel injector) or it is not getting enough air (dirty air filter) both are easy problems to fix....

I would take it to a mechanic and have him check out your engine. You may need a minor/major tune up.
