I was at a retreat a few years ago. I was taking notes, like mad, writing down every word the teacher was saying! We broke for a sack lunch and a huge storm started raging outside.

I noticed that I wasn't afraid! How weird! Then I noticed that nothing seemed real. I felt like I was watching a play...a funny play! Humor was so near the surface and I couldn't stop smiling...almost giggling!

Two women next to me were talking very seriously (one seemed to be sad over a break up). I kept smiling and one lady got annoyed. I said, "It doesn't matter...nothing matters!"

This experience stayed with me for a long time...I took no more notes and left the retreat. I felt like no thing mattered at all...a cosmic joke of sorts has been played on all of us!

A very child-like softness had descended on me...no self consciousness...no personality...no burdens...just humor....seeing the joke!!!

I was told by the teacher (much later) that I was in "Satori" and that I should forget about it. He said that it was a gift...other such experiences may or may not "visit" in my life, but to cling to such experiences is a mis-take. They are temporary and can entice one into wanting more! A sort of greed. Also, to enjoy the "ordinariness" of life...it is all a miracle.

I don't know if this was a "Separation", but it sure was amazing. I will never forget it.

I'm not real sure if this is what you are asking for but......yes. It was the most awesome experience. I was laying in bed one night, almost asleep, when I went limp. I thought I was already pretty relaxed but apparently not. In my limpness my eyes flew open and I was unable to move. I felt an energy entity peel out of my body and sit beside me on the bed. My mind was racing and the energy laughed at me. I wanted to get my hand tape recorded so I could speak into it and record this but, it was in the downstairs bathroom. I had several hours of incredible events - as I had split my consciousness and was experiencing both of 'me' at the same time. In the early a.m. the energy stood at my feet and drifted back into my body. I watched the sun come up in awe and when I rose I found the tape recorded was now by my bed! I await the time I get to do that again.

I was three going into four full twenty-four hour days pumping
out a research term paper when my reality fell apart. I knew
it was not actually what truly existed in the here and now but had no leverage to force a return. It played out. I actually got some rest, of sorts, before focus returned.

I have. Just this morning my toothbrush was all the way on the other side of the bathroom where I had been using it to clean blood off a mouse trap. I didn't want to walk all the way over there so I separated myself from myself and went and got it and brought it back to myself. It was real.

Yes, it was very 'real' and slightly 'unreal' at the same time, I was flying in one aircraft, and at a certain point I separated and was also flying another, it turned out to be a kind of re-inactment of my previous 'death'.

It was totally freaky to be spiralling into the ground and flying straight and level at the same 'time', but somehow my mind held it all together. There's a lot more to this tale obviously, but this was the great gift from myself to myself that allowed me to 'see' that one's focus/attention could be divided and held.

The memories evoked in this incident have since been verified, and are, for me, totally 'real'. What others make of it is up to them. :-)))

No, but there is something called lucid dreaming that can be like that. It can be when you let your spirit leave your body and explore but you can't go too far or "you" will be lost forever

(hahaha)!!! You could be imagining it, but then evidence to the contrary does support itself.

No but I hear it's easy to get groin strains if you don't warm up first.
