Hi April t, you need know that edema is the medical term used to describe an accumulation of fluid between cells in the soft tissue of the body. Edema can develop in any part of your body. The fundamental cause may be much more serious than the accumulation of fluids. Often times, edema is an early warning sign for a much more intense illness such as: Cirrhosis of the liver – Diabetes - Vena Cava Syndrome – Allergies – Infection.
The symptoms of edema include redness, heat and tenderness in the affected area. There may be swelling and fluid in an individual arm, ankle, leg, abdomen or in your fingers. You may have puffiness in your face or around your eyes or notice that your shoes never seem to fit like they used to. If you notice any of these symptoms, consult your physician.
This home remedy is very good for you. You can introduce flax seeds in your daily diet. Grind and store these seeds and use it daily with any of your meals.
A good diet combined with equal amount of exercise can make things very easy for you. Include cucumber and watermelon in your daily diet for good dose of potassium.
Swimming is the best thing to do during such times.
Drink good amount of water as water helps in diluting the excess salt, which makes the removal of the salt much easier which leads to prevention of edema.
Keep sipping herbal tea at least three times a day, this too acts in the similar fashion like water - dilution.
Whenever you get time keep your feet elevated as one of the common reasons for water retention is gravity.

Water retention in the body is better known as edema. Do you know what is the cause of it? Did you have UTI? Which part of your body retains more water?
For general edema, take a good diuretic.
Apis M 30C - homeopathic medicine - is a good one for edema and swelling. You will have to go to the loo frequently though.
Take 4 pills 4 times a day for a week. If you feel there is improvement, then continue till the swelling and edema is reduced completely.

Parsely is also a natural diuretic, so add it to foods you are cooking, and fresh parsley in salads is interesting too. Lemon and cranberry juice are also helpful. There are several natural diuretic products on the market, go to a health food store and research them if you're interested in such, but don't buy anything unless you are completely comfortable with using it. ;) Stay out of any drinks that contain caffeine, they cause water retention. And of course, limit your salt intake, and increase your potassium intake (which lemon and cranberry juice are very high in). ;)

Try some natural diuretic like green tea and cranberry juice. If you limit your salt intake that would help you out a lot throughout the month. Good luck.

Dehydration triggers your body to secrete the hormone aldosterone, which triggers water retention. As you increase your water intake, your body will begin to release stored water reserves and you may lose 2 – 5 pounds of retained water!
