Sure they give a fig, they want their own safe haven like they had in Afganistan. They will wait until we pull out and then they will be free to hit us at their leisure again.

Time to take this war seriously and win it.

Al Qaeda is not Iraq’s biggest problem. US military and intelligence officials say that Al Qaeda is only a small part of the threat to stability in Iraq.

Iran’s influence in the region has grown as a result of the removal of Saddam. Iran is not friendly towards Al Qaeda and would like to see the Shiite-dominated government remain in Iraq. The Shiite militias, as well the formal military, will focus on ridding Iraq of Al Qaeda. The problem is that those same militias will continue to target Sunnis.

Oh yes! They won't want a government who is freindly to the US in charge of Iraq. Plus they'd love to have a sanctuary country like Afghanistan was.

Yes they do.

Prior to the invasion Al-Q had no hopes of exercising influence over Iraq. Now they have been afforded the opportunity to do so.

I agree. They are not going to stop until all of the US is completely out of Iraq and they are fully in control. I pray that that never happens. I am going to use an answer that I got from one of my questions earlier, "the area will become one big Arab nation to include Iran and Syria." I hope that never happens.

In their mind they won't stop until there is a Taliban style government in place. Shari'a law or whatever it is.

And Bush won't either.
As long as they pass and honor that "divvy up the oil" law, that Bush has been pressuring them on, I don't think he'll care who is in charge.
