I saw this in an old issue of Better Homes & Gardens while waiting for the doctor. The best way that I can describe it, is that it looked like a brown stick that branched out and grew very small, yellow flowers. I thought it was beautiful, and I want to have it painted in my room, but I need to find a picture of it in order to do so. If it helps at all, a common theme in this room was Asian decor and Asian flowers. Please help! Thanks so much.

Sounds a bit like an orchid or a Forsythia.
Here's a picture of a yellow orchid:

And here's one of a Forsythia:

Sounds like a forsythia or maybe even a witch-hazel. Both have yellow flowers and both bloom before the leaves appear.

I am a member of davesgarden.com, and they have a plant identification forum, as well as a database filled with plant pictures and info. Everyone there is really helpful.
