i think he may have been slightly perverted perhaps, his nature nurture theory was good though....

If you think from reading Freud's theories of psychosexual development that he was a paedophile, then you probably need to read them again, and keep doing that until you actually understand them.

While much of Freud's interpretive work seems to focus on unfulfilled sexual desire as a driving force, nothing in the theory of psychosexual development suggests child sex abuse.

Freud was very pessimistic and his psychosexual development stages do sound tortureous, paedophile may be a bit strong but perverted certainly has a place there!

I do not think he was a paedophile, I think Freud had his own unresolved issues Re: the opposite sex, i.e. his nanny (who it is said molested Freud) and his young and beautiful mother who adored Freud, and Freud her. However, if we was to read Freud without prejudice, I'm sure we would agree the mistakes that were made by not allowing him to speak as openly as he could I believe Freud was a man before his time, and was uncovering Paedophilia more than 100 years ago, so if he was a paedophile why would he want to expose paedophiles. The question you should have asked was, "was the circle of analysis's around at the time of Freud,
paedophiles, for the simple reason they wanted him silenced because they was uncomfortable with his speeches?

Freud mainly did research on middle aged women. He had one child subject, a boy. The fact that his theory revolves around the sexual development from babyhood to teenage, doesnt necessarily mean he studies actual kids. There are lots of theories about the development of children. Are all researchers paedophiles?
If anything, Freud was fixated on his mother. Read a bit more!!!

no2islam i think you are an unknowledgable prat but there we go!!

no i dont think that freud was a pedophile. I think that he was trying to prove a very valuable point and that is that we all have the ability to develop psychosexually from a very young age. Read a little deeper into his work then you ll know what i mean.

he had some very odd ideas granted, not sure if he was a paedophile tho?? His theories are great to citicise and promote others as alternatives e.g erikson's life stage development. Personally I don't think little boys wants to sleep with their mums but if you study little children (steady on I'm a student social worker!!) you can see some of the envy stuff, I think its more to do with attachment than sexuality though.

It was a long time ago . . .

I've read Freud extensively in my studies. Freud was an absolute genius. His work has been challenged and developed by many. One must bear in mind the era in which he lived. I don't believe there is any evidence whatsoever to suggest he was a paedophile.

I studied some of his work in a Development of Religion course which triggered my interest so I did some more research on Freud. I agree with you completely. He is just plain weird.

I've read some of his work for psychology classes in high school and college. I suspect he had some sexual hang-ups that may have influenced his work but I've seen nothing to suggest he was a pedophile. Just because he thought sexual development started before puberty doesn't mean he wanted to bone kids himself - bit of a big leap in logic there...

Yes, he was a jew and the jewish Talmud allows pedophilia. The jews are trying to pervert white societies and this was Freud's role in it. They also control the media, pornography, etc. They have suceeded 100% - Europe and America era shaddows of what they once were. In the last few years they (the jews) have started the final push - of legalizing certain kinds of pedophilia. You will see it happen within your lifetime.
