My current stove has a pilot light whereas all previous stoves had electric ignition. Both pilot lights are burning but I still get pretty strong odors so there could be a leak elsewhere I suppose.

Is any and all odor bad?

If you haven't done so, turn the shut-off valve to the off position on the line behind the stove. Open the windows/doors to air the place out. Follow everybody else's advice. Do it right now.

Odor is bad--its a warning sign that there is either a leak, or not all of the gas is being burnt. The odor is actually added at the gas company so you will know when there is a problem--its a safety thing. I would be concerned if it was my stove--better safe than sorry.

You should not smell any odor if all pilot lights are lit. If you are using propane, and tank is nearly empty, you will occasionaly get some from that condition. Check your pilot lights, is the flame nearly all blue, or is there a good bit of orange /yellow flame? If not clear blue, try cleaning them. Turn off unit, i use a broom straw to "swish" inside the orfice, then using drinking straw, blow any dirt or dust out. Good Luck

Sound like you have a gas leak. Stop using the stove until you find out where the leak is.

Call the gas company now. Never ignore the smell of natural gas. Better to be safe than dead.
