I'm not sure what you mean Moon, but I need to be honest here. These open-ended questions that could apply to a myriad of situations just don't do it for me. I need specifics. You see, most people on answers would apply the base and carnal to your question because we live in a world of selfishness and debauchery. Add the anonynimity to this forum and the creeps pop out of nowhere and deface your computer screen. Is this what we want? Havn't we seen it a zillion times on here to the point of exhaustion.

Just a few thoughts for today. Of course, I know you mean no harm and your one of the nicest posters on this forum, yet it's good to go beyond the superficial once in a while.

You have a wonderful day! :)

Hi Moon,
It all depends on the subject and the situation and I think my own ability to master what I am trying to learn. In some areas, learning has come so easily I've hardly noticed I've been learning. Often I have to try to pick things up quickly and I can learn quickly but whether I remember it all is another thing. If I've no need to use this knowledge again, it all gets pushed into the recesses of my mind.
There are some subjects I could spend all my life on and not move any further in my learning ... mechanics springs to my mind. How many times I've watched my husband fix a car; my son's a great mechanic all learned from his father. I should know it all too ... I still haven't got a clue.
So I think my answer is if it's a subject/area you're interested in and you have a flair for, learning is easy. If it's not, neither will be the learning.
Polly

Moon! Until I learn what?!
I guess it depends on what I'm learning. If it's a lesson in life, I learn fast. If it's anything harder than Algebra, it takes a long time! If it's that you like to ask questions that could have many answers, I learn fast. If it's learning to give up on something that may not happen, it takes me so very long because I'm not a quitter and don't accept defeat easily.
Bye, Moon. Happy day.

Depends on what one is trying to learn:

Simple ideas only requiring memorization are the quickest to learn,
complex ideas first need a foundation of simple ideas so they usually take longer,
physical skills, like gymnasticts or golf, which require "muscle memory" as well as an intellectual knowledge of the game, generally require the most time to learn.

Oh, I learn very quickly, but sometimes keep on trying because I still have hope.

The best way of learning of course is to watch somebody who is very proficient and then simply to copy them. This shortcut learning is what permaculture is based on as it cuts out a lot of unnecessary mistakes by using existing patterns and models.

It really depends on how much I really *want* to learn it! If I truly want to learn, then it doesn't seem to take as long. But if I'm dragging my feet because I *really* don't want to be doing the thing, I'm not going to learn it. I have to give it a chance if I'm to learn it. . . (I'm *still* trying to learn a healthier life-style, food-wise! mmmmm.... Love food too much, but realize that I need to learn to eat healthier ~ especially for the sake of my kids. Now that I do have kids, though, I seem to *finally* be 'getting it'!)

Sometimes I learn from the 1st time I make a mistake... other times it takes two or three times... just depends on what I keep messin' up.

Until I muster up enough courage to take steps in another direction....and never look back.

But Moon, when I have done this, I have to remind myself to stay on the better road. It takes effort to do the right thing.

You have a great evening too.

It depends. I learn some things more quickly than others.

Sometimes it takes several times before I learn my lesson well.
