Red Sox have more bandwagon fans.

All the Red Sox can say is 2004, but they cant say ''Bucky Dent!''

Good question. I'd have to say the Red Sox. The Yankees have 26 World Series Championships and to be honest with you people actually like the team because of that. They have had some of the greatest players to ever play the game (Babe RUth, Mickey Mantle, Joe DiMaggio, etc). The band wagon fans have come and gone, and some of them have stuck and turned into true fans.

Now the Red Sox were a Cinderella team for a long time. The curse of the bambino caused thier "fans" to explode in number everytime a playoff hope was there. Everyone dreams that thier team will be the one to beat the odds and can give them the feeling that only true Red Sox fans felt in 2004. You don't get this feeling with the Yankees. For that reason, I think the Red Sox have the most bandwagon fans.

Although both have many bandwagon followers, I would agree with some of the others, that the Yanks have the edge on this one. Anytime I ever hear a Sox and Yanks fan argue, the parting remark that every Yankee fan ever makes is "And how many World Series have the Sox won?" It is always easy to follow a team that is known for winning, i.e., Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bulls., etc., but I think it takes a lot of stamina to continue rooting for a team that year, after year, after year, 86 to be exact, continued to let their fans down. Just because a Boston fan (or Yankee fan for that matter) cheers for their team, lets say in Arizona, doesn't mean they can't be true at heart.

Boston is in first place and New York is 9 games out. The Red Sox have more bandwagon fans right now. If the Yankees come back somehow, the fans will come back. If you are asking which team has more true fans I say Boston. New York fans have no patience for teams that aren't on top. Philadelphia fans are just like them.

To be honest both have bandwagon fans some became Redsox fans because of the hatred they have for the Yankees. On the Yankees end they have people that jumped on the bandwagon when they were winning World Series 4 out of 5 years. As far as celebrities every major market team gets there fair share of celebrities at a game so that point is moot.

I would say the Yankees have more bandwagon fans. Honestly, I don't know what bandwagon Red Sox fans would join. Other than the fact that they won in 2004, they haven't won since 1918. The Yankees however, had a streak of like 5 world series in like 8 years in the 90's. Lots of people, and lots of my friends, jumped on that bandwagon. But, that's just my opinion.

Most Red Sox fans had to be pretty loyal for a long, long time -- 86 years in fact. Therefore, it would be easy to conclude that more people jumping on the bandwagon are Yankee fans. Many can't be bothered waiting for the home team to get good, so it's easy to root for the Yankees.

I believe that if you were a fan of the Red Sox before they won the WS, you are the best kind of fans a team could have.
Yanks, by far, have the most bandwagoners. It's a lot easier for a person to say "I'm a Yankee fan" than it is to say "I'm a Cubs fan", or a "Pirates fan", or any other team that hasn't seen a WS in the last 50 years.

Not being a fan of either team, I think I am subjective in answering this. I would say Red Sox fans. Most people who claim to be fans of the Red Sox don't even know any members of the team.
