My S-10 (1994) is about to make me nutz. The windshield wipers work now and again. Sometimes when they don't work, I can hear a buzzing from the wiper motor. When they don't work, the washer does not come on either. I went out a minute ago to go buy a motor, and the fricking thing worked like a charm.

Checked when it was not working, and showed power on the plug going into it.

Motor, switch, what else? (PS, I am not a total dummy, I know a good bit, but don't want to just start throwing parts at it.

Help!

Dear S-10-

There is a warranty recall on the wiper control module. It has been a problem issue for quite some time. GM's vendor failed to weather pack the components inside by coating them with silicon sealant.

If you go to your Chevrolet Dealership, and talk to the Parts Department, they can help you.

The service department might even cover this under what is called a Warranty Campaign. Then the work is covered for the next 12 months or 12,000 miles. If it happens in that time the work is done again for free.

I know the S-10's and the GMC Sonoma's had the same trouble.

I hope that helps you out.

Chevrolet mechanics don't have time to get bored. I had exactly the same problem on an older model Blazer and it turned out to be the switch. It would send power but not
enough. You will get a voltage reading when you check it but there are not enough amperes to run the motor.

94 might be one of the years they used a module mounted right on the motor that went bad all the time. Check for recalls. Doesn't matter how old your car is.Good luck.
