my buterfly fish just stays at the top corner of the tank is this norm will he move much

as the previous guy says, you can get more movement out of them try dropping a guppy in there and see the movement then, they are predatory fish and they have a surprisingly large mouth easy enough to cope with the odd 2 in fish. Failing that try them with a few crickets/locusts, feed the insects up with greens for 24hrs then drop one or two in.

What type of butterfly do you have? Butterflys like to "hide". Be sure he has lots of hiding places. If a butterfly is staying in one location, there could be a problem with a tank mate. Although most butterflys are peaceful, if there is an aggressive fish in the same tank, or the tank is too small, their activity level will decrease.

If it is an african butterfly fish, they sit at the top, usually just under some floating plants waiting for insects to fall in. If you provided floating plants, he would feel much more secure.
