Do your research and find out what you are willing to eat and what you are not. Once you have done that, research the correct vitamins to take, and then talk to your mom about it. You didn't say anything about how she would react, but offer to pay for the vitamins (if you are not already taking them) out of your allowance, and also offer to help cook dinner since you will be eating differently from the family. That way, she will see that you are sincere and have done your research and might take it more seriously. Just be prepared to tell her why you want this and what you will do to stick with it.

First...Why do you think you want to become a vegetarian? You're only 12 and have a lot of growing and developing to do. Why not put the decision off until you 18 or at least 17? There are strict vegetarian diets and variations of it.
On a strict one you don't allow yourself any animal products including eggs, cheese, milk, etc.

A variation would be a lacto-vegetarian diet which allows milk and milk products, but doesn't allow meat ,chicken, fish or eggs.
An ovo-lacto-vegetarian diet allows all foods from plants plus eggs, milk and other dairy products.
On an ovo-vegetarian diet, eggs and foods of plant origin are allowed, but meat, milk and other dairy products aren't eaten
The main concerns of persons following vegetarian diets are: not getting the proper amount of protein... vitamin B12...riboflavin...vitamin D...and calcium, which are very important for proper nutrition and to be healthy. This is not just a myth, it is the God honest truth. You are so young to be considering such a drastic change in you diet and that is why I asked why you think you should follow that kind of diet when it can be very damaging to you overall health. You should talk to your mom or an adult you trust about this and keep an open mind when you do. Also, taking a multivitamin does not replace the vitamin nutrients you get from the actual food source itself...not the same. I wish you the best , honey.

Mom, I want to become a vegetarian! Then tell her 'good reasons' why you think vegetarianism is 'best' ... she may not want to give you permission, but it's worth a try ... direct and simple is usually best when talking with one's parent(s).

Don't! It's unhealthy. Vegetarians live on average 6 years less than other people.

Your mom just wants you to be healthy, so she'll be opposed to your becoming a vego just as she would if you became a smoker.
