Yes, his name was Dummy, and my Mom left him at my Aunt's house- that's how she got me to stop communicating with him. I have a daughter, she pretends, but never named an imaginary friend.

Speaking for myself...
I wouldn't know if I could or should call her an imaginary friend, but she was & still is a very close friend that I cannot replace with the world at any time & till the end of my life time...
The way I understand the word imaginary is as what actually comes from what we build in our thoughts while knowing we r creating an image within us on who we DO NOT KNOW; which makes that person in our thoughts IMAGINARY; and that's NOT really the case I am talking about here in my case...
Nevertheless, while still in actual contact with (her) in reality, my thoughts get acquainted much with the opportunity of building much more of motions & situations with her some other times while not being her, and that is merely in my thoughts; as though she was the ONE & ONLY IMAGINARY person who mingles with my thoughts & soul semultaneously & any time I wish to bring her in my thoughts.
That's y i thought I could call her an IMAGINARY FRIEND.
It is your call to decide if this makes sense at all...
About my children...I am not sure they think it the way I do...

Yes she had black hair and a pet spider. I think that her name was mirranda or something like that. When I started school I just said goodbye to her and never saw my imaginary friend again.
