Most likely problem is it needs a shock with chlorine. Check your PH with a test strip first, and if its too high or too low, balance the PH first. Chlorine doesn't do much for you when the PH is way out of whack. They sell PH increase or Decrease chemicals at a pool supply place, or even at some home centers.
Once the PH is in the acceptable range, the shock it with chlorine. They sell liquid or dry pool shock, the liquid works better, but the dry stuff is easier to keep on hand. If a good dose of pool shock doesn't clear it up, take a sample to your local pool supply place and ask them to analyze it. They usually test a few times for free for you each season. They can give good advice on how to clear it.
Sometimes you need to add a clarifier and let the stuff settle to the bottom and then vacum it out. be sure to vacum it out to the waste setting and not right back through the filter and into the pool again. Because the filter could be your problem.
So if those two things don't work, check your filter to be sure its got enough sand or whatever medium it uses for filtering. If its an in-ground pool with a sand filter, its good to replace the sand every 4 years or so.

It really depends on what is causing the fog. You need to check pH and salinity levels to make sure that they are correct and take the necessary steps to ensure that these levels are correct.
