I know Detroiters catch it tough when they must say the DREADFUL word "SODA!" when we go out of state.

I don't say pop or soda, I just say Coke, and here in Tennessee everyone knows what I mean......, or we just say carbonated drink..........

Lol...originally from Detroit I refuse to say soda, it's a pop, and working in a restaurant a always say pop, get some strange looks, but its a way to start up a conversation also. All you have to do is read a Fago Red Pop label, its not Fago Red Soda you know, boy would I die for a Fago Red Pop right now.

That's what a lot of us in Ohio call it too, so of course I don't think it's odd since I'm used to it. I do say soda though when I answer peoples questions.

i hate it when people say soda.
Pop is what i say. Here in canada it is used every where. Id prefer you say anything before soda. Id call it a soft drink or fizzy drink before i brought myself to say soda.

I say coke, which could mean coca cola or dr.pepper...where I live nobody says soda or pop

Around here everything is coke. Ex. "Would you like a coke?"
"Yes, I will have a Dr. Pepper." I hope this helps. This is my way of answering.
