parents should not discuss how much money they have with kids because it can cause them to be afraid that they don't have enough money.
Discussing how to manage their money is a good idea however.

They just don't like to because they say that kids shouldn't be worrying about that, they should be out having fun. And it's also a little embarrassing for them if they don't have enough money.

who told you this? It depends how old the kids are..while they don't have to know everything...it isn't a bad idea to let the
children know what is spent on food,
utilities, etc...and it wouldn't hurt to teach the a little about managing money..

Well it's a common practice among rich people not to discuss how rich you are.
It's seen as distasteful.
Or it could be so that you won't get kidnapped and held for ransom.
