Ok, when you answer a question, spell check is right there up in the corner, one little fricking click away. So, I am still amazed at how many people still spell like they are 6 years old. WHY? I just don't get it, it drives me a little crazy. I know I shouldn't care so much but in the name of all things holy, JUST CLICK SPELL CHECK. I am not a great speller myself so I just love that nifty little feature. I'm not saying you suck if you can't spell well, I'm just saying why not use a tool that can help you spell better. Wouldn't it be great if I have a spelling error in here and don't catch it? But hey this one actually doesn't have spell check.

Didn't actually have a spell check, you mean.... looks like we could do with a grammer check too!
I know what you mean though.

Sometimes the spell check feature is not operational. Still, I agree that most people simply do not have a clue about spelling. Sometimes you can see it is just a typographical error, but most of the time they just don't know. Too much telephone texting going on with many of them. They don't know how to spell and don't care because they use abbreviated spellings for everything. Reminds me of a quote from a favorite movie, 'The Human Stain' when a character said,
"People today not only seem to be getting dumber, but also more opinionated."

Not so much, as long as I can understand what they're trying to say. I make a lot of type errors myself. Like using the wrong their, they're there etc. I find the people that spell better and don't rely on spell check do this. They have faith in their grammar where they shouldn't.
For myself, I'm sorry!

With the text messaging days here, more and more people are using grammatical errors. It's like the "rawkin" thing to do. I personally can't stand it because unlike the "kewl" people that use it, I have a hard time understanding it.

I think some people are trying to get their answer in so quickly that they don't want to take the time to hit spell check.
Just a guess.

ha ha! that is very true. My best friend would totally agree with you, her biggest pet peeve is incorrectly spelled words in professionally printed materials.
Sometimes kids use the "cool hip" spelling of words..or wordz as they would put it, but to misspell and not spell check, makes me wonder how intelligent they are, and I would think twice about taking their advice.

most of my errors are mere typos that i've not caught before i submit, and as grammatically correct as i generally am, i've often misused such things as "there vs. their"
because i didn't fully proofread it myself, and spell check can't detect that.
when i was a newbie, misspellings got on my nerves, and i corrected folks until i came to understand how petty that made ME look, and i've also come to realize there are people of varying age groups, ethnicities and educations. they don't deserve to be browbeaten as long as their posts are intelligible to those of us who are more erudite.
next complaint? non-use of proper capitalization?
apologies, but that is this reasonably tolerant user's OPINION.
