Mine was much less paranormal but still pretty freaky. At least, it freaked me out. One night I was watching tv in my living room and the windows in my dining room were all open, the rooms are right next to each other and there's basically a huge open archway between the two rooms. Anyway, so all of a sudden I started hearing this strange sound.
I muted the tv and listened, sure enough it was something outside.
I went into the dining room and stood by the windows trying to figure out where it was coming from. I figured it was somewhere down the street, yet it was so loud and echoing. I also assumed it was some sort of animal.
I have, in all my years, never heard a sound like what I did that night before. I can't even describe it, it sounded terrible.
I've heard cats, raccoons, etc...this wasn't any of that.
Maybe some sort of wounded animal but the like wailing cries went right through you. What was even worse was that it was pitch black and still as anything out there that night.
I'll never forget it.

Scariest thing I've ever heard was my own voice, screaming as I looked to my right and saw a car coming directly at my passenger side door, while I was driving. I was 17, and ended up getting 12 stitches in my head from it bouncing off the rear-view mirror. I still get the willies when I think of that accident.
But since this is the M&F forum, I would say my experiences aren't with sound, but more the knowing some.thing.is.there. But when you turn to look. No.One.Is.There. Happened a LOT in my old apartment. Especially when I was alone.
Pretty freaky...

When a place is closed and empty there is an air contained inside, that in a slight movements in some parts of the building will create sounds effects, the scariest sound that a person can hear is the sound of a blasting bomb and followed by cries of innocent victim.

I have spent most of my life in the Calif. mountains.I know of every animal there is.One day in broad daylight,in the High Sierras outside an area called Huntington Lake,I was hiking,The loudest howling screeching noise came from about 100 yards in front of me.I stopped dead in my tracks. It was not a wolf or coyote or mountain lion.It was more like you'd think of a howler monkey. But it was so loud and powerful! I decided something was telling me not to go forward,so I turned and went back. That was 30 years ago.I've never heard anything like that before or since.Bigfoot? I wouldn't say that, but I wouldn't say no either.

There have been a few sounds that chilled my blood.
Northern California - sound of a mountain lion scream. (I grew up there - never got used to that sound.)
The thug that said: "Drop your purse" while pointing a gun at me.
Hearing someone walk across the living room floor upstairs when I am home alone.

When I was little my cousin and I were in her bedroom - she was behind me braiding my hair and I was holding a boombox as we listened to music. As the song finished, I rewound it to listen to it again, and while rewinding, the boombox emitted this deep, satanic laugh. I'll never forget it. We both ran from the room like our butts were on fire, and slept with our grandma. I never stayed again but found out later that her brother was into some pretty crazy devil worshiping and that was his boombox. Freaky.

When I was little and my grandma lived at ehr old house, she had this carousel that played that 'Memory" Song off of cats, that she got from her dad, who hasn't been alive since i was about 2
Anyway, it was on a shelf in her living room and the one day when she was in the kitchen and i was watching TV, it started playing.
It's really weird because it's one of those Wind up things.
My grandma came in and looked at it, then me, and asked me if I turned it on, I said no, because i didn't, and added that i was too short to reach it.
To this day i still remember it....

That is scary.
My scariest sound was a cougar scream. All the hairs on my arms and neck stood up before I even had time to think.
