Yes, you can use both at the same time. Sometimes, this is a good thing because if there is something that doesn't work right or is not displayed correctly in firefox, you can use Internet explorer as a back up.
As far as default browsers, the computer will ask you which one you want to be the default browser as soon as you first launch the new one.

Yes, you can use both on the same computer. I do so all the time. Sometimes I have Opera running as well, so I'll have three browsers open. And for pop ups, it depends on which browser you access the area where the pop ups come from. So let's say you have MySpace up on Firefox, and one of those random pop ups shows up - it will be on firefox.

Yes, you can run Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer on the same system. Pop-ups will come up on whatever browser you're using when you get them. You won't get them if you aren't using a browser. (Note that some applications use IE or Firefox, and you might get them if you're in those applications.)

Yes you can (and should use both). You can set up one as default. You need IE to go to some sites like Microsoft for updates. Sometimes there will be some sites that don't work well on firefox. I have set firefox as my default.

Yes, you can use both at the same time. You will need to set the default browser. Generally when you open one or the other, it will ask you to make it the default browser if it is not.

Your First question. - YES.
2nd Question. - Default one? That depends on which one you gonna click first. IE 7 is slow. Firefox is faster. You don't wanna stress yourself on Load Speed right? So go for the fastest.
Furthermore, IE7 has no History button, this function has been relegated to the menu bar or hot key access only. And of course, the IE's frequent page loading errors is frustrating. You need to refresh or two to get things moving.
Happy surfin... =)

yes you can use them both. I do. If you have a mac, firefox is the one to go to. If you have a dell or hp, try Explorer. You can use both. Internet explorer works best with pop ups

You can use both, but I recommend allowing Firefox to be the default (you'll get prompted to make it the default when you install it.
It should block most popups.
Keep track of IE, you may need it for certain sites.
