Six Repeated Three Times—Why?
In the Scriptures, certain numbers have symbolic significance. The number seven, for example, is often used to symbolize that which is complete, or perfect, in God’s eyes. For instance, God’s creative week comprises seven ‘days,’ or extended time periods, during which God completely accomplishes his creative purpose regarding the earth.
Six is one short of seven. Would it not be a fitting symbol of something imperfect, or defective, in God’s eyes? Yes, indeed! (1 Chronicles 20:6, 7) Moreover, six repeated three times, as 666, powerfully stresses that imperfection. That this is the correct view is supported by the fact that 666 is “a human number,” as we have considered. Thus, the beast’s record, its “human number,” and the number 666 itself all point to one unmistakable conclusion—gross shortcoming and failure in the eyes of God

Another reason might be attributed to what 666 stands for. 666 is the sum number of the Sun Square, which represents any number of solar gods(such as Lucifer, who was actually the Italian God of the Sun, or Light, before absorbed, and altered by the Catholic-Western- Church). This dates back some thousands of years, so it is plausible as one selection of the number. Another reason is that there are two numbers used to represent man, five and six. Six represents man's connection to the spirit. 6 would be physical, 66 spiritual, and 666 on a divine level. Basically saying the number of man in God.

It is said in the bible that the number 666 is the mark of the beast. Check revelations. And that is the symbol of the earth born anti-christ that will destroy earth. Listen to the song by Iron Maiden, may answer some questions.

The romans empire considered the #7 to be perfection. IN the Middle East, it was joked that the #6 was the empire trying to be perfect but falling short. It evolved into 666 representing the Romans who were considered evil in the MIddle east.

apparently, the number is 999, and that it is seen upside down in dreams/visions, so people interpreted it as 666.

It's supposed to be the number of the devil, but somebody translated the bible again and found that it's supposed to be 616 so really it's just a number that doesn't mean anything.
