People complain that the patriot act takes our rights away, but doesn't it serve to inhibit the terrorist from using our rights against us?

Kelly -no American has been harmed by it, yet it has helped our gov. where terrorism is concerned.
So because we have 'rights' for our citizens, we should just let terrorist use them to kill us? lol

Terrorists and others who seek to destroy this great country should not be afforded our rights under the Constitution. Why people want to do this is mindboggling.
Have they so quickly forgotten 9/11, or the trade tower assault prior to that, the beirut bombing of our Marines and on and on.
I am not sure what it is going to take to get the anti-American crowd to get on board America, I am afraid that regardless the destruction and lives lost that many are such hardcore fanatics that they will never be for America again.

1st we can't nuke em till they glow then shoot em in the dark. The US has been the only country to ever use them in anger. The world will not let us forget that fact even with our justification.
Unfortunately the left will not allow the Government to openly track the terrorist before they attack. BUT they will heap the criticism on them once they succeed! To protect the enemies useful idiots our government is required to go contestant.

One could make a case for the limiting of rights to inhibit terrorists from using them to some advantage, but it does not really justify the errosion of our rights. Patrick Henry said it best in 1776,"Give me liberty or give me death." The price of freedom may, indeed be death.

It may be true, but you did not research enough, to really understand who are behind all of this! These terrorists are just doing, what they being told to... And the only ones that have interests in keeping this figthing are the Bankers financing this unwinable war. Governments and those bankers, want to create a crisis, that will lift civilian liberties, in order to controlled them, and enslaved them to increase their economic power over the rest of the developing world, and then finally take over the world. Actually, the US has already been sold to China... This may look strange to you, if you are not acquianted with the real fact, but read around yahoo politics and you will see what I mean!
Edit: I got quite extensive knowledge of the world, and I guess that your life is too much busy with superficial things, to let you see the truth... Anyways, it is not surprising to see sheeps like you believed what they want to believed. Money has always been behind power, and its not the politicians that have the most... Follow the money, follow the leaders of this world. This is the end of the story! Happy to make you laugh, in a few years, you will remember this!

Wait a minute, we've already done that.
Actually, the Patriot Act itself doesn't take any rights away. Except for one specific provision which was already declared unconstitutional back in 2004. The Patriot Act is intrusive and uncivilized and violates common expectations of privacy, but it doesn't do anything that actually takes any rights away.
Other govt actions have done that, and have repeatedly been ruled on by the courts as illegal and unconstitutional. Bush doesn't care, and keeps doing them anyway.
So, the answer to your question is two fold. We can either ignore our own laws, or we can change our own laws.
But either one of those accomplishes the terrorist's goal for them, which is to destroy our way of life and make us live in fear.

The Libs are the reason they're able to use our rights against us. The Libs and their organizations, such as the ACLU. Everyone needs to realize that these monsters don't deserve ANY rights what so ever. They hate us and they want us dead. As for the patriot act... I believe with all of my heart that it keeps Americans safe. As for the wire taping... If the feds and the CIA want to hear pisses and moans that I share with my mother then they're welcome to them.
