OK, is the router connected to a broadband internet connection that's being shared by both PC's? If so, then make sure the wireless PC can get out to the internet. That's the first priority, because if that works, then we know the PC is connecting wirelessly to the router just fine.
Also, make a note of its IP address. It should be in the 192.168.x.x range.
The other computer hasn't changed from your description, so you shouldn't have to troubleshoot that. Instead, ping the IP address of the computer you're trying to connect to. Make sure you're getting a reply.

The icon in the Network Neighborhood refers to the same computer, but via the old wired connection. It does not know to go through wireless connection just because you just connect differently; Internet and IP is something else entirely but the Network N. icon need to be deleted and re-create from scratch.

i'm no longer a networking expert, yet I doubt you will get to the internet with a change. you want a router to translate the close by IP addresses on your little close by community to internet IP addresses, and the change is interior the incorrect place (whether it had the aptitude, which I doubt) to try this. The router sits between all of the computers (speaking directly to them, no longer by the different computing gadget) and the internet. there's a manner, with domicile windows XP and Vista, of sharing the internet connection on one pc by hooking the different directly to it (no change), yet i propose against it. The secondary computing gadget is then completely based on the ordinary being as much as gain the international. If this is down, the secondary can not get help from Yahoo! solutions. a thank you to bypass incredibly is a router, under pressure out or on the spot. wish that helps.

it sounds like you didn't configure the wireless router, insert the CD into the wired computer and configure it correctly...
then use that configuration to reconfigure the wireless connection on the non-wired computer.

try running the install cd, if it still doesn't work you might have to go in and reset up the network.
