"BAGHDAD — Although Bush administration officials have frequently lashed out at Syria and Iran, accusing it of helping insurgents and militias here, the largest number of foreign fighters and suicide bombers in Iraq come from a third neighbor, Saudi Arabia, according to a senior U.S. military officer and Iraqi lawmakers."
"About 45% of all foreign militants targeting U.S. troops and Iraqi civilians and security forces are from Saudi Arabia; 15% are from Syria and Lebanon; and 10% are from North Africa, according to official U.S. military figures made available to The Times by the senior officer. Nearly half of the 135 foreigners in U.S. detention facilities in Iraq are Saudis, he said."

I thought Iran and Syria were supposed to be the bad guys according to Bush and the Pentagon.
Interesting bit of left out information huh?

Interesting.
So, more than half of the 9/11 hijackers were from Saudi Arabia. And almost half of those fighting the US armed forces are from Saudi Arabia.....
Too bad the Bush family has such close personal and financial ties to Saudi Arabia. Otherwise, we might be able to do something about it.

I am not a Saudi but have been here in Saudi for a long time. What you are saying is not true. This is your media playing with your innocent and gullible minds. This is a great country with a good heart. All Arabs are not Saudis. In addition, whoever is blowing themselves up are not necessarily Saudis, so the question becomes irrelevant. These guys blowing themselves up could be from anywhere and whoever, these are frustrated people who want to get rid of the enemy (US) some how, there country was invaded for no reason at all and this is a way of fighting the mightiest of the armies. Why don't you leave and let them be. Once you leave the suicides will stop. For God's sake get out and stay at your own shores.

Yeah just as interesting as when the Bush administration didn't apparently care that the majority of the hijackers on 9/11 were Saudi Arabian.

Yep nice to see the facts finally coming forth. The reality of BushCo's propaganda war is falling apart. The idea the the Saudis are the good guys is also falling by the wayside. As I have always said When the majority of 9/11 hijackers had Saudi passports why are we invading a Iraq?? Just because the oil is flowing just as Bush likes it doesnt make that country the good guys.

I wouldn't believe anything I read in the LA Times or even the New York Times. They both have a Far Left political agenda. If the LA Times is posting this story, they're doing so for a reason. That reason is likely to somehow embarrass President Bush. Yet I do believe that many insurgents in Iraq are from Saudi Arabia because I've heard about it on Fox News. SA is an Allie of the U.S. and as such it's not a good idea for the POTUS to piss them off by pushing them into recalling those insurgents.

That is interesting and brings up many questions in my mind. We have many Saudis here in the states who are on our Military bases, attending various schools. I see Saudis all of the time and deal with them a lot, as quite a few are customers of mine.
Wow, I'm half tempted to ask some questions of these guys. The ones that I know are going through helicopter flight training.

Faux is fair and balanced. They report both what Cheniev says and what Bush imagines he said.
So they report that the insurgents are mostly Democrat.

The information is not hidden. It is available to those who look for it. The same information is not volunteered freely however because it would take away some of the desired suspicion of Iran and Syria. All but two of the 9?11 terrorists were Saudis and Osamma Bin Laden is Saudi. Al-Qaeda is a primarily Saudi group. We are not, however at war with Saudi Arabia. They are allies and business partners.

Probably for the same reason they don't tell about Private Saudi citizens giving millions of dollars to Sunni insurgents in Iraq and much of the money is used to buy weapons, including shoulder fired anti-aircraft missiles, according to key Iraqi officials and others familiar with the flow of cash.

I'm afraid the reason is Saudi Arabia owns a big part of America and the US government refuses to upset them.
