Does anyone know what are the laws or the consequences if someone 18 yrs or older is caught or charged with seeing a 17 year old?? Does the overage person have to have sex with the minor in order to be charged, or can someone charge the overage person for just being with or seeing the 17 yr old?

Could the law stop us from seeing each other if we are not having sex?

I live in PA. Technically, an 18 year old would be guilty of statutory rape for having consensual sex with any minor. A 17 year old is a minor. Chances are, the 18 year old would never be prosecuted. At age 17 a woman knows what she is doing.

Dating each other is not a crime.

Laws cannot prohibit social relationships. That's a constitutional issue.

They can prohibit sex with people under the age of consent. However, both the age of consent, and the age difference of the two people must be taken into account.

Here's what wikipedia says on the subject.

18 years and over can completely escape criminal liability for consensual sex only if their partner is also 18 or over.

The age of consent in Pennsylvania is officially 16 years of age, but effectively 18 years of age, due to the interplay of various criminal statutes. A person who is 4 or more years older than a consenting partner who is less than 16 years of age can be charged with various felony sex offenses. A person 18 years or over, who engages in consensual sex with a person between the ages of 16 and 18, can be charged with Corruption of minors {§ 6301}, which is a first degree misdemeanor.

I am not licensed to practice in Pennsylvania, so consult a licensed PA attorney for further clarification.
