I assume by money you mean currency, no matter what the form. Money has power because we give it power. The president has power because we give him power. So what if we took the power away? What would you be left with? Imagine a life where everyone was truly equal, no matter what race, disability, marital status, etc. that they have infringed upon them. Would that really be a better world? The answer is no. We as humans operate on a system of embedded moral codes that we live by. And one of that codes is to respect authority, and in order to respect it, it must exist. Money in this world is authority and that is why it means everything.

Actually freedom to choose is everything but without money your choices are limited so I guess that makes money everything. There have been and still are many who have endless funds and choose to live simple lives. I agree, without money everyone believes money is the answer - I would help the needy - I would have more time to...I would be happier...Have you ever noticed all the rich people that give millions of dollars to charity and still it's not enough? When is it enough?

Money does not have to be everything. It only becomes everything if we allow it to be so. Literally billions of people live happy lives with relatively little of the stuff. Or maybe it just depends on what makes you "happy" in your life.

Money is not everything. You asking the question confirms that it is not. In your world/life money is not everything. If it were, you would not be asking this question.
Family, meaningful relationships, information, education, love, health, these are all examples of elements that mean "everything".

Good question. Answer: It doesn't and it isn't. Contrary to what people believe, money doesn't make the world go 'round. It's more like killing it. If you followed the trail of all the world's problems back to their source I'd bet my life that they all lead to someone who has more money than they know what to do with but still wants more.

Spirituality is generally considered to be free. But if you are hungry, from poverty, even that is out of reach. Ages ago we made a choice to switch from the barter system to monetary. Isn't it easier to carry money in your pocket than a chicken?

I want to find happiness and sometimes I feel money can help me achieve that dream. I know it doesn't buy happiness, but many (including myself, not going to lie) believe it can help greatly. I just want to find love, and no one will ever love a hobo. It's shallow, but to an extent it's true. money often is reward for hard work. (though not necessarily. cough paris hilton cough)

It does seem that way, doesn't it?

Food, shelter and the nice things to live more comfortably cost money, which means more work and less time to enjoy.

Because without it everything will become nothing in a value sort of way.
